☕️ Sippin’ Sunday: The Pause Is Part of the Work
The last three weeks have been a whirlwind.
If you’ve been following along, you know I was in Nebraska, then came home and had a market, then the Monday after that market I had the APCO conference, and the Saturday after that…another market.
So when this weekend finally came around and I didn’t have anything scheduled, I was grateful.
Really grateful.
And at first, it almost felt strange.
No market to pack for.
No booth to set up.
No event to rush to.
Just a little space.
And I realized how much I needed it.
Not because I wanted to do nothing, but because I needed time to catch up on the things that are easy to ignore when you’re constantly moving.
I checked inventory.
I ordered new UVDTF wraps.
I started updating some of my signage.
I finished special orders that needed my attention.
I looked at what I had, what I needed, and what could be improved before the next market.
And honestly, it reminded me that slowing down is part of running a business too.
When you’re constantly in go mode, it’s easy to focus only on the next thing.
The next event.
The next order.
The next product.
The next deadline.
But if you never pause long enough to look around, little things can start slipping through the cracks.
Inventory gets low.
Signs get outdated.
Packaging needs attention.
Products need a second look.
And sometimes, if we’re not careful, we can get so focused on keeping up that we start sacrificing the very thing we worked so hard to build in the first place.
Quality.
That matters to me.
I want the products I put out into the world to reflect the care, thought, and effort behind Rise Up Designs.
And sometimes that means not pushing forward just because I can.
Sometimes it means slowing down.
Checking everything.
Fixing what needs fixing.
Restocking what needs restocking.
And making sure the next thing I put my name on still feels like something I’m proud of.
This weekend wasn’t flashy.
There were no big sales numbers.
No crowded booth.
No exciting event photos.
But it was productive in a different way.
It gave me space to reset.
To organize.
To pay attention.
And to breathe a little.
I think we sometimes convince ourselves that if we’re not constantly doing something visible, we’re not making progress.
But that’s not true.
Sometimes the most productive thing you can do for your business is give yourself enough space to look around and make sure everything you’re building still reflects the quality you want your name attached to.
The pause isn’t getting in the way of the work.
Sometimes the pause is the work.
So if you’ve been running nonstop lately, maybe this is your reminder that it’s okay to slow down for a minute.
You’re not losing momentum.
You might just be creating the space you need to keep moving forward well.
☕ Happy Sippin’ Sunday.
