☕ Sippin’ Sunday: Creating for the Love of It✨
Today, I gave myself permission to do something simple but important: create for the sake of creating.
No deadlines.
No “Will this sell?” mindset.
No pressure to post or promote.
(No spreadsheets, no Etsy panic, no praying to the Pinterest algorithm gods.🧎🏻♀️➡️)
Just me, my little workshop, a few supplies, and the joy of making something just because it fills my cup. ✨✨
(Also, my literal cup. I was definitely sipping coffee while doing it. Priorities. ☕)
Making Space for Creativity (and Maybe a Little Mess)
It’s easy to get caught up in the hustle.
- Create a product.
- List it online.
- Market it.
- Sell it.
- Stress-eat snacks while refreshing your Etsy dashboard.
(Been there. Bought the T-shirt. Ate the snacks.)
But at the core of it all, I’m a creator first.
That’s who I am. That’s who I’ve always been. And sometimes, it’s important to honor that part of myself without expecting anything in return (other than maybe a little glitter glue stuck in my hair).
The Power of Creating for YOU
Some nights at 8PM, after a long day, you’ll still find me in my little workshop.
Not packaging orders.
Not prepping for a market.
Not uploading Etsy listings.
Just making something—because it feels good to make.
(And because my printer was giving me “neglect” vibes. Can’t have that - it’s not a fan of that!)
That quiet time spent creating keeps me sharp. It keeps me connected to why I started this journey in the first place.
It reminds me that creativity isn’t just a business move—it’s part of my soul. (A slightly glittery soul, but a soul nonetheless. ✨)
Giving Yourself (and Myself) Grace
If you’re reading this and feeling like you haven’t been “productive” lately, or you’re second-guessing whether every project has to have a purpose, here’s your permission slip:
✅ Make something messy.
✅ Make something weird.
✅ Make something that looks like you blacked out halfway through but still somehow love.
Because creating for the sake of creating isn’t wasted time. It’s therapy with a hot glue gun. It’s soul maintenance. It’s joy. And you deserve that.
Final Thoughts
This journey—building Rise Up Designs, growing my creativity, sharing my work—started because I loved making things.
Today was a reminder that love of creating still matters most. And no matter where this path leads, I want to keep making time for that simple, powerful act:
Creating, just for me.
(And maybe occasionally for the sister, who absolutely needed that custom clipboard for her classroom. 👩🏻🏫)
Until next time,
Jecca
