🔍 Flex Friday: 3 Things That Helped My Etsy Listings Get Found
Let’s talk about something that every shop owner stresses over at some point:
“How do I get my listings SEEN on Etsy?”
When I first launched Rise Up Designs, I spent hours creating products — tumblers, wraps, keychains — and then stared at my stats wondering why no one was finding them. 😩 Sound familiar?
Now, I’m not saying I cracked the Etsy algorithm (I wish! 😂), but I have figured out a few key moves that made a difference in getting found — and getting sales. So for today’s Flex Friday, I’m sharing 3 real things that helped my listings show up more consistently.
1️⃣ Get serious about your titles
Your title isn’t just a description — it’s a search tool.
I used to write cutesy or vague titles, but now I start by thinking:
💡 What would my ideal customer type into the search bar?
Example:
Instead of “Sparkle Teacher Cup”
I go with: Teacher Tumbler with Straw – Back to School Gift – Glitter Glass Can – Teacher Appreciation Gift Idea
It may sound less poetic, but it’s way more powerful in Etsy search.
2️⃣ Make the first 5 tags count
Etsy prioritizes your first few tags, so make them solid!
🛠 I use a mix of:
-
Broad terms like “custom tumbler”
-
Specific phrases like “sunflower wrap for 16oz glass”
-
Occasion-based keywords like “teacher gift” or “birthday for her”
Don’t waste tags on things like “gift” or “fun.” Be specific. Be searchable.
3️⃣ Add a little SEO magic to your descriptions
I used to write product descriptions like a caption — short, sweet, and cute. But Etsy uses your description to help index your product in search, so now I make sure to include:
✅ Keywords from my title
✅ Common phrases people might search
✅ Specifics like size, materials, and who it’s great for
Bonus tip: Write like a real human, but keep SEO in mind. It’s a balance!
Final Thoughts 💬
If your listings aren’t getting traction right away — don’t panic. Etsy’s search engine takes time to learn who your buyers are. Keep testing. Keep updating your titles and tags. And above all, keep going. 🚀
Your people are out there — they just need a breadcrumb trail to find you. 💛
